You're Doing It Wrong! How To Get False Lashes that Keeps 'Em Staring
Today’s post is ALL ABOUT LASHES! Whether it’s a coat or two of your favorite mascara, or your favorite pair of lashes, you all will agree that lashes are definitely a game changer in your makeup look. Not only do they enhance your eyes, making them look even more beautiful, but they also add a certain “je ne sais quoi” and sexiness to even the simplest looks if I may say so *smile*.
In this post, I’ll be covering the three crucial Cs of false lashes which I have come to learn over the last few years of doing makeup. From choosing the right pair for your eye shape to caring for your lashes to maintaining your pair, these tips will guide you during your next purchase.
Before choosing and purchasing a pair of false lashes, you have to know the look you’re going for. If you’re going for a dramatic look, then your lash pick should obviously be long, full, thick false lashes. On the other hand, if you’re going for a natural look, then scanty, natural looking false lashes should be your pick. Regardless of the look you’re trying to achieve, knowing your eye shape and type is really important. Determining your eye shape (i.e. almond shape) and type (i.e. close set, deep set or hooded eyes) will enable you know what eyelashes will be most flattering to your eyes. For hooded lids, you have to make sure that the lash style you’re choosing does not overpower your eyes, or they won’t look flattering and appealing. So a major tip when choosing your falsies is to make sure that you’re choosing a style that is most flattering to your eye shape and type.
Now we have selected and purchased our falsies, it’s time to put them on! Now, you might like them the way they are straight out the package. Or… you might be like me and want to customize them a little bit. Personally, I like to stack two or three different styles together to create a unique lash style. I mean, who doesn’t love to be unique? Another way to customize your falsies is by placing them on your lid (without any glue) and doing a length check. By doing this, you can tell if the width is off for your eye shape. If the lashes are too long, you can trim off the excess – making your false eyelashes perfect and made for your eyes only.
Now if you’re an avid user of false eyelashes like me, you will agree that making sure these eyelashes are as good as new with each use is of paramount importance. Nobody likes falsies which have been clogged with mascara, eye shadows or other dirt! This is where lash care comes into play. So first of all, once you’re taking off your falsies, get rid of product buildup, dust and glue with rubbing alcohol before storing them in its package. Rubbing alcohol is a very effective (and cheap) way to get your falsies sparkling clean in a matter of seconds. Place your lashes on a paper towel, spray rubbing alcohol generously over the lashes, and then gently rub with the paper towel. Your lashes will be as good as new after following these steps!
I hope you learnt a few new tips from this post. Now go out and purchase your next pair of lashes with confidence!
